The Pelham Preservation Society has undertaken to raise the funds and to oversee the restoration of the Benedict Fountain and adjoining stairs that lead from Pelhamwood Avenue, across from the Pelham Train Station, to Benedict Place.  The fountain -- components of which date from the original development of Pelhamwood at the turn of the century -- will be taken down and re-cast to recreate the fountain in its original appearance.  A substantial part of the funding for this project was raised at this year's annual fundraiser.  The organization continues to solicit donations to complete this project.

Views of the Benedict Fountain in its current condition (above) and as it appeared in 1920 and 1909 (below).  The cast concrete elements evidence substantial deterioration from nearly 100 years of exposure to the elements.

Work has begun on the fountain, starting with re-pointing of the stone wall and steps up to Benedict Place, which was completed in October 2007.
